Mark Porter has been training with Truck School for a few months now.. Firstly, coming to Truck School for his class 2 test and then for the driver CPC mod 4 test. Now, Mark is upgrading to the class 1, articulated lorry test.
Mark now works for A&L haulage and they have arranged for Mark to complete his artic test.
Mark started his training last week on our Renault Premium artic lorry. Unfortunately due to a gearbox fault, the Renault was sent to the garage and Mark was a lorry short to complete the training. So off to J F Pearce and Sons to see if they had a lorry available to hire. Better than that, the guys at J F Pearce allowed us to take one of their fleet to try out. No questions asked, just drive it away and see how you get on was the plan.
So with the great support of J F Pearce and sons, we had a Volvo FH. A little older than our Renault but immaculate. A 3 on top of 3 gearbox was easy to get to grips with and Mark was able to complete the training. We were a little concerned about the height of the lorry as it stands a little taller than the Renault. After a little drive under the bridge at Bitton, at 14' 1", we made it under the 14' 3" bridge and so off to test today.
After the reverse, the uncouple and recouple, Mark set off for the almost 55 min drive. The examiner only found 2 small things wrong with the entire driving test so a pretty good result really.
Well done to Mark
