Aaron Weare took his cat C (class 2) HGV driving test today. He came to Truck School a few weeks ago and completed his Mod 4 CPC training and test. Aaron put his everything into that test and passed FIRST TIME with a whopping 95% score. So Monday comes and Aaron is out for the first day with our Head of Truck School, Mike training. Aaron was secretly nervous about driving the big 18 tonne lorry but Mike told me that he was just putting pressure on himself to do well. Mike knew that he had it in him..
Day 2, Day 3 and Day 4 whizzed by and after cracking the reverse early this morning, Mike and Aaron set off to test in Bristol Kingswood.
Out went Aaron on the drive and he came back with only ONE driver fault. This was only marked because the examiner thought he could have made a turn before a car came. Aaron decided that it was safer to wait the extra 2 or 3 seconds to allow the car to pass and then made his turn. So, with such a little fault, we were really pleased when we heard the news that Aaron had passed.
On returning to the yard, Mike took Aaron over to the quarry, which is situated just over the road from our new premises in Gurney Slade. We made contact with the Quarry manager to see if they were looking for any training. It turned out that after a quick chat with Aaron, there is a job driving at the Quarry if he wants it. All he needs to do is wait for his licence to come back from DVLA and his CPC card and he can start.
So pleased with this news, the Quarry staff took Mike and Aaron on a mini tour. Hard hats and flashy amber lights on the Range Rover and they had a little spin around the site to see what they do there... Boys and their toys!!
Well done to Mike for another good job and congrats to Aaron for passing both his tests with Truck School at the FIRST TIME attempt!!
